Never Ignore Your Check Engine Light

Never Ignore Your Check Engine Light

by Mert / Sunday, 24 April 2016 / Published in autoblog`

Do you have a check engine light that has been staring at you every time you start your car? It is never a good idea to continually ignore it. The check engine indicator is meant to alert you that your engine requires attention. With a check engine light on it will be impossible to get a smog certificate. Continuing to neglect it will only lead to larger problems and larger repair expenses. If you have a light that stays on or comes on occasionally, come by Allstate Transmission & Auto Repair. Our ASE-certified mechanics can diagnose the cause of the light and help you to get the problem fixed.  Give us a call today to schedule an appointment!

What Your Check Engine Light Means

Sometimes your check engine light illuminates because your odometer has reached a certain milestone. At these milestones the manufacturer recommends scheduled maintenance to be performed to maximize your vehicle’s engine life. Modern vehicles have a variety of sensors that help to regulate pollution. When these are out of calibration or broken your engine check indicator will light up.
However, there are other times that your check engine light might come on. If a major engine failure occurs, your vehicle’s computer will send a signal that there is something wrong. In turn, the check engine indicator will come on. This is why it is especially important to get your vehicle inspected by a licensed mechanic when this light turns on.

Check Off Your Check Engine Light

Getting your check engine light off is always in the best interest of your vehicle. Yet, it doesn’t necessarily have to be an expensive process. At Allstate Transmission & Auto Repair we offer regular discounts to our services. Call us at (972)-472-3204 to your vehicle diagnosed today.
